Waking without an alarm
The wooden shutters let the light in when you decide. Outside there's no traffic — there are birds, and, far off, a bell from Los Villares.

Sierra de la Pandera · Jaén · Andalusia
A whole house for eight, a private pool and a garden fed by springs, in the mountains above Jaén's sea of olive trees.
The house
In August you don't need air conditioning. You need a thin blanket.

Villa Fuji isn't shared, isn't split into apartments and has no reception desk. When you book, you book the whole house: four bedrooms, three bathrooms, the kitchen, the living room with its fireplace, the garden, the wood-fired barbecue and the pool. Nobody else.
It stands on the road climbing to the Sierra de la Pandera, in Los Villares — half an hour from Jaén, one minute on foot from the mountain grill where people actually eat. High enough for August's heat to stay down in the valley, close enough to drive to the Cathedral in the afternoon.
It is called Fuji because that is what everyone called my father. This is the family house, and it still works like one: no reception, no office to collect keys from, and the WhatsApp is answered by us.
An ordinary day

The wooden shutters let the light in when you decide. Outside there's no traffic — there are birds, and, far off, a bell from Los Villares.

Water, lawn, tree shade and nobody waiting for a sun lounger. The pool is yours for the whole stay, from the first morning to the last.

The barbecue sits under a stone porch, with its own chimney and a long table. It's where the day ends, whatever the plan was.

You're inside the Starlight Reserve of the Sierra Sur de Jaén. Turn off the garden lights, look up, and that's it.

Cyclist-friendly house
Locked bike store, wash area and a repair stand with proper tools. Above you, one of the hardest summit finishes of the Vuelta a España. Below, 128 traffic-free kilometres along the Vía Verde del Aceite.
Inside
Terracotta floors, wooden doors, stone arches and a cellar carved into the rock. This is not a design villa: it's a real Andalusian mountain house, looked after and comfortable.

Every photograph is of this house. None of them is stock.

Surroundings

Before you book
Four fully equipped bedrooms and three bathrooms: two inside the house and one more outside by the pool, so nobody walks in dripping. The house is about 220 m² on a plot of over 2,500 m², and it is always rented whole, for up to 8 guests.
No, and it doesn't need it. Villa Fuji sits in the Sierra de la Pandera, where the microclimate keeps the house comfortable even in the hottest months. At night you sleep with the window open.
Yes. The house has central heating and a wood-burning fireplace in the living room for winter evenings.
Less than a minute from the house is Mesón Asador La Pandera: mountain cooking — salmorejo with Jaén olive oil, lamb chops, kid goat in garlic, venison stew, seasonal wild mushrooms — and a list of local wines. Open Tuesday to Sunday, 12:00 to midnight, closed Mondays. Bookings on +34 953 32 14 85.
Yes, and at no extra charge. Write to us before booking and tell us how many and how big, so we can get everything ready.
Yes. This is not an adults-only property: there's a trampoline, table tennis, a volleyball net and plenty of garden to run in. We only ask that children are never left alone by the pool.
From mid-May until late September or early October, depending on the weather. It stays closed the rest of the year.
It's one of the reasons people come back. Villa Fuji is a cyclist-friendly establishment: locked bike store, wash area and a repair stand with professional tools. And you sleep at the foot of La Pandera, a Vuelta a España summit finish. Bikes can also be rented through Via Bike, our local partner.
You don't. It is paved all the way to the gate and easy to reach in any car — a van or a bike trailer included. You climb from Los Villares on the Sierra de la Pandera road: about 15 minutes from the village, half an hour from Jaén city.
